Green Salon headerThose who participate in green theology, philosophy and ethics are very busy people, and they do not have the time for the visiting and discussion that their chosen calling demands. Furthermore, the literature that animates them in environmental ethics (especially if one considers that ethics, broadly conceived, includes theology, philosophy, and politics) grows by leaps and bounds, they do not have time to keep up with the literature.

Ultimately, there is no final answer to this dilemma. A partial answer to the situation, however, is the Madison Green Salon! Join us once a month for fellowship and significant discussion of materials of which we need to be aware and about which we need to know something. Once a month we gather in the Memorial Union cafeteria, looking out over Lake Mendota in its various formats from Summer to Fall to Winter to Spring...and discuss the important issues we've been neglecting.

Oh yes, you can order breakfast in the newly refurbished Union Cafeteria, so you can also save time at the same time!

"The idea for a Madison Green Salon was hatched in my head as I read some exceedingly provocative, profound and innovative articles of a more philosophical nature in my favorite 'in depth' monthly environmental magazine, Orion, and in the most recent issue of the Yale Divinity School magazine. I have also been stimulated by several thoughtful articles questioning the effectiveness of the 'business as usual' operations of the 'green movement' up to this point in time. And I wonder what Al Gore really meant by global warming being a moral issue?--Dave Steffenson
